Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, will be buried in his hometown of Ilaro, Ogun State, today, Monday, August 24, 2026.

A lying-in-state ceremony for the late actor is scheduled for 11 am at the Asade Agunloye Pavilion Ground in Ilaro, according to veteran actor Jide Kosoko.
The Chief Imam of Ilaro announced that the burial prayer will commence at 10 am at the same location.
The late star was a devout Muslim and an active member of the Ilaro Muslim Community, according to the Chief Imam’s Sunday night message.
In the brief statement, the group prayed that “Allah forgive(s) his (Ogogo’s) shortcomings and grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus.”
Ogogo, who died at approximately 3:00 pm on Sunday, August 23, 2026, was 66 years old.
Kosoko also offered a prayer for the departed thespian, hoping he would “rest in perfect peace.”
“We pray that Almighty Allah grants him eternal rest and gives his family, friends, colleagues and loved ones the strength and fortitude to bear this great loss,” the veteran actor added.
TAMPAN president Bolaji Amusan, also known as Mr Latin, described the passing as a significant loss for the industry.

“Ogogo lived a remarkable life, touched countless hearts and left an indelible mark on our industry and culture. May his legacy live on forever, and may God grant his family, colleagues and loved ones the strength to bear this painful loss. Rest in peace, Ogogo. Your era may have ended, but your legacy will never die,” Amusan wrote.
Senator Solomon Adeola, who represents Ogun West Senatorial District and is the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate for the 2027 general election, expressed deep sorrow over the death.
Adeola, who is also from Ilaro, mourned the loss of a “brother” who “believed and worked assiduously for my cause and the cause of our people.”
The lawmaker sympathized with the immediate family’s struggles during the actor’s battle with stage 4 cancer, noting that “God knows best in all circumstances.”
He promised to continue to support the family in their time of need.
Unlike some recent industry funerals that have become elaborate spectacles, the arrangements for Ogogo appear focused on traditional religious rites and family privacy.
The focus on the Asade Agunloye Pavilion Ground suggests a local community-centered approach rather than a high-profile, media-heavy event.
Adeola also emphasized that the good deeds of the patriarch to society would not be forgotten.
