Jungheinrich Celebrates 25 Years, Boosts APAC Post-Nigeria

Jungheinrich has marked 25 years in Singapore, establishing the city-state as its strategic backbone for material flow across the Asia-Pacific region. The German material handling company celebrated the milestone on 28 August 2026, hosting an anniversary gala dinner at Pan Pacific Orchard Singapore. Guests of Honour included Thomas Motak, Deputy Head of Mission of the Federal Republic of Germany to Singapore, and Nadine Despineux, Member of the Board of Management and Chief Sales Officer for Jungheinrich.

Founded on 21 February 2001, the Singapore branch was the first country unit Jungheinrich established in APAC. It now oversees key regional functions including training, automation, dealer management, sales, and human resources. The operation also hosts the APAC spare parts distribution centre.

Supporting this network are over 1,500 employees across eight country units and 14 partner companies in the region. The Singapore team, consisting of 150 staff members, collaborates closely with partners to drive market development. A dedicated group of 50 technicians ensures industry-benchmark service, which is vital as the logistics sector shifts toward more professional operations.

The company has positioned itself as a full-liner supplier, offering warehouse trucks, racking, automation, digital solutions, and customer service under one roof. It pioneered the adoption of electric equipment in the country, capturing an estimated 25% market share for electrified machines. In recognition of these efforts, the firm was named Supply Chain Innovator of the Year (CSR) at the Supply Chain Asia Awards 2025 and achieved Great Place To Work® Certified™ status.

Expanding reach and community impact Operational growth is visible

In May 2024, Jungheinrich opened its Experience Centre in Singapore, the first of its kind in APAC. The facility showcases product innovation and demonstrates how material flow interacts within a warehouse setting.

Sustainability initiatives have taken root as well. Since 2024, Jungheinrich Singapore and Malaysia have run the “The Environment Wins Twice” campaign with Animal Projects & Environmental Education (APE) Malaysia. The program plants a tree for every electric forklift sold, resulting in 455 trees planted as of 2025.

As the warehouse automation market in Southeast Asia is projected to nearly double from US$0.87 billion in 2025 to US$1.95 billion by 2032, the pressure is on to develop smarter, space-efficient solutions. With Singapore’s limited land and labour resources driving demand for efficiency, the company is focusing on localised automation. It plans to expand the rollout of its AntOn by Jungheinrich system and introduce sustainable material handling solutions tailored to APAC customers. Building on the launch of its first electric van in July 2025, the organisation targets a fully green-energy service fleet by 2030, supporting its commitment to Carbon Neutrality by 2030 for Scope 1 emissions.

While the regional market presents clear opportunities for expansion, the logistics setting in Southeast Asia remains complex. Rapid growth often outpaces infrastructure development, creating potential friction points in supply chain reliability. Jungheinrich’s strategy of deepening local partnerships and establishing a centralised service hub in Singapore may help mitigate these risks, allowing the firm to scale its solutions across the region more effectively.

“As we celebrate 25 years in Singapore, we are proud of the strong foundation we have built with 150 intralogistics experts who support our customers across industries,” said Benedict Kothe, Managing Director, Singapore and Malaysia, Jungheinrich. “Our journey has been defined by innovation, partnership, and a commitment to improving material flow efficiency.”

Local government officials echoed this sentiment regarding the firm’s role in the economy. “We congratulate Jungheinrich on 25 years in Singapore. Over the years, Jungheinrich has grown its Singapore operations into a strategic APAC hub, driving initiatives such as automation, innovation, and sustainability,” said Soo Haw Yun, Vice President, Singapore Economic Development Board.
